Each Extraction Control (ExC) contains inactivated whole-organism mix designed to mimic real-world clinical samples and challenge nucleic acid extraction workflows. The UTI-ExC contains a balanced mix of inactivated organisms that represent the primary bacterial categories encountered in urinary tract infections. These include both Gram-negative rods and Gram-positive cocci commonly implicated in monomicrobial and polymicrobial UTIs, as well Fungi. The control is designed to test the efficiency and consistency of nucleic acid recovery across sample types and workflows, helping ensure that UTI panels are validated for real-world complexity.
